This training is only open to people with experience conducting functional behavior assessments (FBAs) and writing positive behavior support plans (PBSPs). The purpose of the Behavior Support Professional (BSP) Development series is to provide BSPs opportunities to advance their knowledge of PBS and brush up on topics covered during our Foundations of PBS course. Next up for the series is "Info, Needs, Plans, and Deeds: Mapping FBA Results to PBSP Interventions." This training will cover aspects of effective information gathering during the FBA process, and moreover, how this information is translated into effective and person-centered interventions. An example case study will illustrate how assessments fuel quality of life and proactive interventions to broadly address the person’s ongoing preferences and needs. It will also illustrate how functionally equivalent replacement behaviors (FERBs) are designed and supported, and how effective reactive and redirection strategies are developed to deal with behavioral challenges that emerge. The instructor will remain on hand following the training for a question and answer session and discussion of content if attendees are interested in this informal discussion opportunity. |
