Creative Facilitation: Using the MAP's Process in Wraparound

This training will prepare participants to facilitate person-centered planning using MAPs (Making Action Plans). The MAPs process will be detailed and participants will learn how to conduct a MAP and integrate the MAP into the Wrap Plan. We will also discuss the differences between system-centered and person-centered approaches.

After attending, you will be able to:

  • Explain the difference between a systems-centered approach and a person-centered approach.
  • Identify the steps involved in each of the following person-centered planning tools: Circle of Support and MAP.
  • Utilize person-centered planning techniques to involve individuals in planning for services and integration into community settings.
  • Provide instruction and techniques to empower persons with disabilities and their teams in developing goals, identifying needs, and generating action plans.
  • Explain at least three of the values on which person-centered planning is based.
